Bruce Toien: Hi! My name is Bruce Toien. I live in the Portland, Oregon area where my late wife and I moved to from California in 2000. I retired in 2022 from Kaiser Permanente IT, where I specialized in database development. My interests are many: Physical activities include barefoot running (see www.barefootbruce.com), cycling, hiking and XC skiing. As well, I am interested in subjects such as languages, science and society. I recently published a book about folks in a rural Oregon town. It is called "The Yamhill Barber." Check it out, it's pretty good! In any event, this blog includes thoughts on all kinds of topics, which you can focus on by choosing one of the labeled categories.
